Bookkeepers - We currently have 5 bookkeepers employed at LVR. None of them have formal qualifications, but through experience, hard work and exposure they add value to their often complicated and diverse client base. We have bookkeepers that started recently with us and we start their career by trying to ensure that a solid foundation is laid. From there we will slowly add responsibilities, depending on the personal growth of each individual. We strongly motivate and support these bookkeepers should they choose to obtain formal qualifications. One of the ladies at LVR has been recognised by SAIPA as an Accounting Technician based on her experience. These bookkeepers are mainly responsible for monthly accounting of some of our clients by processing the accounting records. Their responsibilities include the submission of VAT, UIF, PAYE and Workmen's Compensation returns. They are also capable of completing the registrations of all the aforementioned. The more experienced bookkeepers also carry the responsibility of completing financial statements; submit the related tax returns (Income Tax and Provisional Tax) of their respective clients.

SAIPA Trainees We appoint qualified B. Com graduates with the necessary qualifications, which will allow them after successful completion of their articles and qualifying examination, to be registered with SAIPA as fully fledge Professional Accountants. We are registered as an Accredited Training Centre with SAIPA (ATC177), and recently have received confirmation, after our monitoring visit, that our status has been upheld with no areas of remediation necessary. We were also congratulated on the professional manner in which we conduct our centre. Similar to the bookkeepers, we ensure that a solid foundation is laid to ensure that the trainee understands how everything fits together to ensure proper accounting records are maintained for an entity. Due to their qualifications, progress of trainees is normally a lot faster than those of the bookkeepers. Every 6 months the Portfolio of Evidence, which SAIPA requires to be kept by the trainee, is evaluated and adjustment to their responsabilities are made. In the past 3 years LVR has delivered 7 qualified Professional Accountants at a 100% pass rate in the qualifying exams.

Qualified Clerks - LVR also employs qualified Professional Accountants as clerks. They serve in a middle management position and are groomed by the partners in adhancing their already acquired skills. The possibility of becoming partners is an added incentive for these skilled workers. Their main focus is the completion of financial statements, tax and participating in middle management.

In-house bookkeeper - LVR also employ its own bookkeeper to do our books, ensure that the monies are collected from debtors and that all statutory returns are submitted timeously.

Company secretary - LVR employs a person that deals with all registration of companies and any changes to companies and close corporations i.e. shareholders, member etc. in liaising with CIPC. The person also deals with annual returns that need to be submitted to CIPC by companies and close corporations.
